This Couple Turned Their Floor Into Something Incredible. And All It Took Were Tree Trunks

The Arizona couple used a technique call “cordwood construction” which takes debarked logs (found or cut down) to stack and mortar into flooring or structures.

They used the cordwood technique to re-vamp their unsightly concrete floor. All it took was a little sweeping, mopping, and placement of wood disks!

The wood used was gathered legally from the state forest. The species “Shaggy Bark Juniper” and “Alligator Bark Juniper” had died and fallen down naturally.

After putting each piece of wood through the chop saw set at 1″, the couple sanded the discs down and glued them to the floor.

After each piece of this wooden puzzle was placed, the disks were firmly tamped to make sure the placement was very tight.

Before long, their entire floor was covered in this beautiful technique.

When everything was ready, they lightly applied a coating of polyurethane to the surface of the disks. This was to prevent the grout from sticking to the tops.

Then, after grouting the disks and adding a few more coats of polyurethane, the floor was complete! How incredible does it look, and how badly do you want to do the same at home?!
